Finding Peace When Everything Around You is in Chaos
I am so thankful for God’s peace! Even in the midst of chaos, peace is still possible. The Bible mentions that God gives us peace. But we must be intentional with what we do in order to obtain this peace. The first step in receiving God’s peace is by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. The next step is by being purposeful with filling our mind with positive things.
When you fill your mind consistently with positive content, such as Bible verses and Christian music, you will notice a shift in your mindset. There is an encouraging song called, “I’m at Peace When the World Isn’t” by Isaac Wheadon, which reminds us that we can have peace even when we hear disheartening stories taking place in this world.
The last step is to ask God if there is anything in your life that you need to change or eliminate in order to reduce stress. If He shows you something to change, then you should do it, instead of putting it off. For example, God might be telling you in your heart that your family is scheduled for too many activities and that you should remove some so you aren’t overwhelmed. He might prompt someone to leave their current job and find another one in order to spend more quality time with their family. Someone might realize that they need to stop hanging out with a friend who is full of drama and negativity.
God can give you a peace that many people will not understand. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” We can get to a point in our lives where we are going through a problem and we see the world in disarray, but we are still happy and at peace with our lives. We can teach this to our kids so they can live peaceful lives as children and when they become adults.
