Making Time, Not Finding Time

Over the years of my life I have learned so much about the value of time. Every person gets 24 hours in a day. And we have choices on how we will use that time. It amazes me how there are some people who can use their time so well and efficiently to accomplish many tasks. When I observe this it inspires me to make sure I am using my time well and not wasting it. We all have different talents and circumstances, so our schedules will be different. But we can make a goal to do our best to be good stewards of what we have been given from God. Sometimes finding time to do specific things is hard. We have to intentionally MAKE TIME.

Make time to spend with your spouse. Biblical marriage is so important. Don’t allow an opportunity for the devil to destroy your marriage because you don’t prioritize each other. Find time to go on dates. Maybe you can do a breakfast or coffee date while the kids are at school if evenings aren’t a good option and if you don’t have a babysitter. You can watch a show together that you both enjoy, once the kids are in bed. These are just a couple of options but if you look online you can find ideas to try. It’s hard to find time to do things. You have to make time even if for only a little bit.

Make time to spend with and help your kids. Play and read together. Help them with their homework and studying. Do a fun activity together. Teach them wisdom to guide them through life. This is so important. The way you spend time with them as a child will influence the type of relationship you have with them as they grow into adults.

Make time to clean your home. You and your family will feel better when the clutter and mess are gone. Of course there are times when the house gets a mess, but don’t make it a habit to keep it that way. Make a goal to keep your home clean on a regular basis. Develop a plan or schedule to help keep you on track.

Make time to use your talents that God has blessed you with. This could be with your career or maybe the Lord has called you to do volunteer work. Whatever it is be sure to make time for it so you don’t lose it. In the Bible, Matthew 25:29 and Luke 8:18 talk about this.

Make time to spend with the Lord. I mentioned this last so people wouldn’t skip over it. Lol. It’s actually the most important. I can't emphasize how much your life will change for the better when you keep God first. Once I started doing this I gained wisdom and a beautiful relationship with Him. When I initially learned about spending time with God first thing in the morning from my mom, I thought it was a little strange, but decided to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did! It’s so life changing and I’m teaching my kids to do the same.

I hope you are encouraged to make time for these different areas of your life. Time is precious and valuable. We can make the most of our days here on this earth in positive ways. It’s important we are teaching this to our kids so they can grow up knowing how to best use their time. Remember we have to make time to do things. If we wait around trying to find time, a lot of things will not get done.
