The Best Way to Solve Your Problems
In life we all have problems. It’s interesting because as soon as we solve one problem, it’s not long before another problem comes along that needs to be solved. Before I started reading the Bible regularly and spending time with God I actually thought there were people in life who didn’t have problems. But that is so far from the truth. And I later found out that no one is exempt from experiencing problems. In fact the Bible says in John 16:33 that “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
I remember once hearing a sermon by Pastor Mark Batterson and he talked about how we should worship through our problems. The first time he said it, I thought it was a bit strange and I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I was thinking to myself, “how can I worship when I have something negative going on in my life?”. But I eventually learned that you can worship God through your problems which helps to remind you of how powerful God is above your problems or circumstances. As you do that you will see how He works because of your faith and trust in Him. That message has stuck with me over the years and I continually put it into practice. And I’m also teaching it to my kids because I want it to be a regular way of life for them.
Our worship moves God, because we are inviting Him into our lives when we do this. There are many ways to worship God. Generally, we usually only think of singing and music as worship to God. But there are other ways. In addition to singing or listening to praise songs, we should read the Bible. Praying to God and attending a Biblical church are also forms of worship. Telling God how amazing He is and living a life by honoring and obeying Him displays worship to Him. As our worship aligns with our faith, we will see God helping us to navigate our problems.
Another thing I’ve learned is that worshipping can help to take your mind off of your problems. It reminds you of God’s goodness and of the things you’re grateful for. And it gives you hope that things can get better.
It’s important for our kids to see us worshipping through our problems instead of complaining because we are their model. For example, in my family when someone in our home is sick, I play worship songs and read Bible verses aloud about healing. And we say a prayer to the Lord asking Him for healing and telling Him that we believe He will heal the family member that is sick. The cool thing about this is that as we worship, the Lord reveals to us what we need to do in order to solve the problem. When someone is sick we may learn that more rest and hydration is needed for healing.
When we worship God gives us answers and shows us what to do. I’ve learned that it’s important that we are doing our part to solve the problem once the Lord reveals to us what is needed to be done. There are other times where miracles may happen, but many times God will show us that work and effort on our part is needed. I find that my kids are encouraged when they see the result of God answering our prayers after worshipping Him and doing what is necessary on our end.
I hope you are encouraged to see that worshipping God is the best solution to your problems. Give it a try and over time you will see how powerful this concept is. God responds to our worship. Teach this to your kids too, so they will know what to do as they work to overcome their problems throughout life.
